God raises up volunteer leaders to move the people of Ligonier United Methodist Church into ministry locally and around the world. These leaders rise out of the worship attendees of the community. However, God has called three leaders to paid staff positions.
Byron Kaiser is the Lead Pastor. He is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and serves under the appointment of the Bishop of Indiana, Michael Coyner. Byron grew up in Indiana, attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. He has served churches in Idaho, Illinois and Indiana. He enjoys praising God with music as a member of the praise team, paddling kayaks and canoes, playing with his granddaughter and keeping up with his three children and two stepchildren. He is married to Candy. Byron is also the proud owner of a little dog with a big smile, named Bishop.
Candy Kaiser is the Pastor of Caring Ministries. She is a commissioned deacon candidate in the United Methodist Church and serves under the appointment of the Bishop of Indiana, Michael Coyner. Candy is a registered nurse and a pastoral counselor. She grew up in Indiana, attended the University of Indianapolis, Goshen College and Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. She has served churches in Indiana. She enjoys praising God with music as a member of the praise team and choir, playing with her granddaughter, reading, cooking, and keeping up with two children and three stepchildren. Glenda Stephens is the oldest member of the church staff. she has been playing for worship services longer than any of her fellow "Staffers" have been alive. When her grandmother bought her a piano at age 6, she began developing a life-long passion for piano and organ and has been studying both ever since. Praising God through inspirational service music is her joy. She has taught piano for 56 years and many of her students have become church musicians. She is active in the Prayer Shawl Ministry and also works with her son, Kelly, at Ben Glaser Automotive.
Carrie Hartman recently became the Administrative Assistant. She grew up in Fort Wayne and moved to the Lake Wawasee area in 2003. She has a married son, step-son and three grand-daughters. She loves being a grandma. She also has two dogs (which includes an adopted “grand-dog”) and also a stray cat. Her family has been “lakers” for many summers. She enjoys praising God with music as a member of the chancel choir and bells and now serves Him with her many years of secretarial experience.
